Inspiration

Already existing inventory platforms such as Too Good To Go were our inspiration for the development of LocalMesh. We do not want any product to be wasted or customers to be dissatisfied for not being able to purchase a product.

What it does

LocalMesh connects local retail stores that suffer from unbalanced inventory stock. The automated system tracks inventory accurately and quickly, while also informing the user about shortages in stock. This allows the user to request more stock from local stores, where those stores will receive the request and be able to deliver stock. The completely automated system tracks all data and maintains requests and orders.

How we built it

We built this with the assistance of Google Gemini, Python, Streamlit, NumPy, and Replit. We used high-intelligence prompt engineering for the AI to tailor-make our requests. We integrated our Python code with GitHub and Streamlit for the system to be showcased. We used NumPy for the automation that detects the status of a certain product. Finally, we used Replit to fine-tune the look and performance of our product to satisfy the user experience.

Challenges we ran into

During the early stages, we ran into issues with tabs leading to the right place, user login info being hidden, request data, and data upload info. Despite these issues, our group came together to discuss solutions and worked to fix errors and bugs through our resources and collaboration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have a full system that works perfectly as a demo. We seamlessly integrated Gmail, GitHub, and Streamlit for our system to run to its full capacity. We are happy that we are happy to reduce waste in our community and help local retailers in need of improving product performance.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned how to utilize AI, coding ideas, design processes, trial and error, collaboration, and overall effective time management to create this massive project.

What's next for LocalMesh Inventory Redistribution

What's next is that we plan on expanding and showcasing our product to big-box retailers and local companies with multiple franchises in order to streamline inventory and stock so that no product will get wasted. This can be integrated with daily workflows and couriers in order to get products from store to store to make sure nothing gets wasted at the end, and time is saved, and revenue is increased.
