Inspiration
We noticed that everyday problems like potholes, broken streetlights, garbage, and water leaks are easy to see but often difficult to report and track. We wanted to build something that turns local problems into visible community action.
What it does
LocalFix allows users to report local problems using photos and location. Reports can be categorized, prioritized, supported by the community, and tracked from Reported → In Progress → Resolved.
MVP
LocalFix can be used in schools, colleges and other community places. This has a high commercial prospect and can also be useful for all, most useful to elders.
How we built it
We built LocalFix as a web-based MVP with a simple, mobile-friendly interface. We focused on issue reporting, location-based information, community support, status tracking, and AI-assisted categorization. Used AI to debug and correct errors.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was deciding which features to build within a limited time. As I started building the web, it was rigid to improvise the Accuracy but it was impactful. We had to focus on the core experience instead of trying to build a complete civic platform.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a working MVP that demonstrates a practical solution to a real-world community problem. We are especially proud of making the reporting process simple and giving users a clear way to follow an issue's progress.
What we learned
We learned that a strong hackathon project doesn't need to solve everything. Identifying one real problem, building a focused solution, and creating a clear user experience can make technology genuinely useful.
LocalFix — Turn Local Problems Into Local Action
Every community has problems that people notice but struggle to get fixed—broken streetlights, potholes, overflowing garbage, water leaks, damaged public spaces, and more. The problem isn't always that nobody cares; it's that there isn't a simple way to report, track, and organize around these issues.
LocalFix is a community-powered platform that makes solving local problems easier.
Users can take a photo of a problem, automatically attach its location, select a category, and submit a report. AI can help identify and prioritize the issue. Other people in the community can view the report, support it, and follow its progress.
Instead of a complaint disappearing after it is reported, LocalFix creates a visible journey:
Report → Verify → Prioritize → Fix → Resolved
Our goal is simple: make every local problem visible and every community member capable of taking action.
For our MVP, we're focusing on a simple reporting and tracking experience that demonstrates how technology can connect citizens, communities, and people responsible for solving local problems.
LocalFix isn't just an issue-reporting app. It's a way to turn "someone should fix this" into "let's get this fixed."
