Inspiration
The inspiration for LocalBizFinder came from a real experience at home. My father often struggled to find reliable local suppliers for his work, and searching manually took time, effort, and multiple contacts. Seeing this problem firsthand made me realise that many people face the same difficulty. That moment sparked the idea to create a platform where anyone can easily discover trustworthy local businesses, suppliers, and service providers around them.
What it does
LocalBizFinder is a web application that helps users explore nearby businesses with the help of search, category filters, tags, and sorting options. It displays clean business cards showing details like rating, product type, price range, minimum order quantity, and location. Users can switch between grid and list view, export business data, and even add their own business to the platform. The app makes local discovery quick, accessible, and visually smooth.
How we built it
Using Base44 and young , brilliant minds...
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge was routing. Initially, the app always opened directly on the dashboard instead of the landing page, so we had to fix redirects and route order. Creating a responsive layout for both grid and list views took time, especially with gradients and shadows. Making filters, search, sorting, rating, and tags work together smoothly was also challenging. Keeping the entire app theme consistent required revisiting many components.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a stylish, fully functional local business discovery platform
Designing a clean, modern landing page and smooth dashboard
Making filters, search, grid/list view, and tags work seamlessly
Creating a consistent theme with gradients and responsive UI
Turning a real-life problem into a working solution
Improving overall React knowledge and UI/UX decision-making
What we learned
Through this project, we learned how to design and structure a complete application from planning to deployment. We gained experience with React components, hooks, routing, and managing complex filtering logic. We learned how to build clean UI layouts, handle responsiveness, and create reusable designs. Debugging routing issues, improving layouts, and keeping the theme consistent helped us understand problem-solving better . Overall, we learned how to take a real problem and convert it into a polished, functional solution.
What's next for LocalBizFinder
In the future, we plan to add several advanced features to make the platform smarter, more trustworthy, and more interactive. We aim to integrate an AI model that can monitor business details, verify their documents, and certify trusted businesses automatically. We also plan to add social media handle options for each business so users can directly check authenticity, view updates, and understand the brand better. Along with this, features like location-based recommendations, direct chat, reviews, analytics, and AI-powered smart search will help evolve LocalBizFinder into a complete ecosystem that supports and boosts local commerce. Furthermore, we will add n8n workflow that will automate email generation and send a mail with an attached invoice to the customers once the order is placed , and other emails also about the delivery status....
