Inspiration

The idea of the app is very similar to the idea of Linux, which is the base image, on which then Android, Ubuntu, Fedora, etc are developed.

We use commercial apps like Amazon, Dominos, Barbeque Nation, etc and we love how we are able to connect with the company from the comfort of our home. However, it isn't the case for local vendors either they don't have the funds or the knowledge to create their own platform. They use other platforms which in turn charge them for the services.

Thus, I wanted to create a base app using which any vendor can generate their app without wasting any money. The vendors then have intimate access to their customers, and the customers then have a choice as they can get anything from vendors nearby.

This line inspired me a lot It's not about one more app, it's about giving the customer a choice.

What it does

The app takes a few configurations and works around them. The vendor can either fill themselves or raise an issue for it. The vendor mentions an owner mail which acts as the admin role and the admin can add items, remove them and provide chat support. The admin can also send push notifications to its users regarding any new scheme or discounts. The user can add items to the cart, order items, book a table, and chat with support.

How we built it

I built it using Flutter and Firebase. The design was done in Figma and the editing was done in Premiere Pro.

Note: the Vendor will have to create a Firebase Project and generate google-services.json as everyone has a google account, it is not a big issue. This is also done to ensure data privacy, also it makes no sense to store the data of all the vendors in one single instance, as they are irrelevant.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Completed the Design, Coding, and Editing alone.
  2. Generate a streamlined user interface.
  3. Created an app for welfare in the community.

What we learned

  1. Learned how to time chats and create chat rooms.
  2. Learned how to create paths in Figma.
  3. Learned how to set up Firebase Storage and Firestore Database.

What's next for Local Vendor App

As it is an open-source project for the community and by the community. I would like people to use the app test it and raise issues that we can then fix.
