Inspiration

Inspiration Local Service Connect was inspired by the everyday problem of finding trusted local workers quickly, without calling many people or depending on random contacts. The idea brings verified plumbers, electricians, daily labourers, masons, AC/refrigerator repairers, and car repairers into one place so customers can search by location, rating, and service type.

What it does The app lets workers create their own profiles with details like phone number, area, category, experience, and ID proof, while customers can browse all workers in a city, filter by reviews and location, save favorites, and contact them by call or chat. It also shows verification status so users can trust the profiles they choose.

How we built it We built the first version as a simple marketplace-style prototype focused on the core flow: worker signup, profile listing, search/filter, ratings, favorites, and contact options. For a hackathon version, the goal is to keep the app small but functional, proving that users can find and contact local service providers easily.

Challenges we ran into The biggest challenge was not just the UI, but deciding what to keep in the first version and what to leave for later. Local service marketplaces become complex fast because they need trust, onboarding for both sides, categories, verification, and admin control, so keeping the MVP simple is important.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We are proud that the app addresses a real local problem and presents a clear, practical solution for customers and workers. The project also includes important marketplace features like filters, ratings, verified profiles, favorites, and communication tools, which make the demo feel complete and useful.

What we learned We learned that a strong marketplace is not only about code, but also about trust, clarity, and user flow. We also learned that a focused MVP is better than trying to build every feature at once, especially for a beginner-friendly hackathon project.

What's next for Local Service Connect Next, the app can grow into a full service platform with map-based search, booking, real-time chat, stronger verification, and later a commission model after the app becomes popular. It can also expand into more categories and more cities once the first version proves usefu
