"Good Buddy: Your Community, Your Heroes – Connecting skills, saving lives, and building a safer community, one task at a time."
Inspiration:
Helping people, especially the students on campus. We wanted to create a deeper sense of community within neighborhoods and school campuses. Being able to request help from the people around you at the press of a button makes it easier for these interactions to happen.
Idea:
Community Safety and Engagement, contacts good Samaritans nearby who are qualified/willing to assist in people in need, from everyday tasks to medical emergencies. Also acts as a law enforcement helper app. Alerts people nearby in walking distance, first-responders to act swiftly.
App Name: Good Buddy (GB)
What it does
App that notifies users in surrounding area within a walking distance for assistance with specific tasks or medical emergencies. Responders must be a part of HOA (home-owners association) if the request for help is in your neighborhood. If the request for help is on campus, one must have a school ID (i.e., VCU eID) for security purposes, this helps limit potential individuals with malicious intent.
App can link to college campus' alert system, sending out messages to students within the proximity of the emergency or crime. Showing location and radius of emergency.
During medical emergencies, the responder will come to the scene of emergency to assist, if the situation escalates out of the responder's control, emergency services will be called (911, etc.). If the responder doesn't have the necessary knowledge on how to assist the situation, there will be a medical AI chatbot to help the responder while EMS is arriving.
AI chatbot and FAQ section of the app will aid the responder in case they're not sufficiently knowledgeable on the current situation and no one else is available nearby. The responder will be able to submit pictures to the chatbot made from CHATGPT's API of the situation/injury, the AI chatbot will analyze the photo and provide medical advice on how to handle the situation.
Goals of app: Reports situation, severity of situation, location, notify nearby users for assistance. Examples:
- Users make their profile, list their skills
- Medical Emergency - Heimlich maneuver
- Help push a heavy load onto a truck Prevent unnecessary ambulance, firetruck, etc. calls.
- Also serves as a crime app
- Reports crime location, severity
Notifies good Samaritans within the area, looks for specific certifications/skills on their profile and matches with the person who requested help.
The person who helped can receive reviews and comments from the requester, updates their profile accordingly.
Point system
- Incentivizes people to help when they are available
- One point per (different) individual helped, user may redeem prizes in shop
