Inspiration
We drew inspiration from the emotional grief experienced by thousands of parents and friends around the world due to their lost and missing loved ones.
What it does
Our vision was to establish a platform where both law enforcement agencies and parents can easily report missing youths. The site features an introductory page that prompts users to either file a report or browse through existing listings of missing individuals. Additionally, we integrated an option for reporters to offer monetary rewards, aiming to incentivize community participation in the search efforts. Moreover, we implemented an AI feature where users can interact with the system in their preferred language.
How we built it
- Frontend
- HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- React
- Backend
- Node.js
- MongoDB
- TypeScript
- Artificial Intelligence
- Cloudflare
- Notification
- Twilio
- APIs
- Cloudflare AI
- Google Cloud Run
- Google Maps
- Twilio
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenges were incorporating Google Maps API with our React Frontend and fetching data from our backend and displaying that information in an appealing way.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very happy that we were able to complete the web application in the limited amount of time, and we are also proud of successfully integrating Artificial Intelligence.
What we learned
We learned about the difficulties of creating a full-stack web application and how integral it is for the backend and frontend to work in unison. Without having both parts complete, our application would fail.
What's next for Local Reports
We will continue to expand the application, providing scalability and additional functionality to improve the user experience.
