Inspiration

While walking 2 kilometers daily to my college, I noticed a recurring issue in my community. Many people urgently needed services like drivers, cooks, or plumbers, but couldn’t find someone nearby when it mattered most. At the same time, I met skilled workers eager to work but with no way to connect to potential customers. The problem wasn’t skill or demand — it was connectivity. That inspired me to build a simple platform to bridge this gap.

What it does

Local Job Connect is a web-based platform that connects local job seekers (like drivers, cooks, plumbers) with nearby employers or customers.

a. Users can search jobs by role and location.

b. Workers can get visibility for their skills.

c. The platform makes hiring fast, simple, and location-based.

How we built it

a. Frontend: HTML, CSS (responsive design for mobile and desktop).

b. Version Control: Git & GitHub for project management.

c. Hosting: GitHub Pages for free and fast deployment.

d. Designed a clean, intuitive interface so even non-technical users can navigate easily.

Challenges we ran into

a. Making the design fully responsive for different devices.

b. Keeping the interface simple while ensuring all essential features are included.

c. Setting up GitHub Pages to host the project without backend support.

d. Accomplishments that we're proud of Built a fully functional and clean web platform within the hackathon timeframe.

d. Successfully hosted the project online for public access.

e. Created an accessible tool that solves a real-world local employment problem.

What we learned

a. How to design with user simplicity in mind.

b. Hosting static websites using GitHub Pages.

c. The importance of identifying real-world problems before building a solution.

What's next for Local Job Connect

a. Add a backend to store and manage job postings and user profiles.

b. Implement real-time chat between workers and employers.

c. Add location-based recommendations using maps.

d. Launch a mobile-friendly version or dedicated app.

e. Expand the platform to cover more service category
