Inspiration
Running a business keeps you busy. Creating an invoice shouldn't slow you down. I built Local Invoice to help freelancers and small businesses create professional invoices faster while keeping their client information on their own device.
What it does
Local Invoice makes clean, professional invoices and estimates: your business, your line items, your taxes and totals, exported to PDF. Client details stay on your device.
How I built it
It shares one engine with the three siblings it launched with (pdf-lib, Capacitor, and RevenueCat for the single Pro purchase), built solo with AI agents as my teammates, each app with its own identity. The first four went from idea to launch in eight days. The speed wasn’t the goal. It was simply what became possible when we found a way of building together that worked.
Challenges I ran into
Numbers have to be exactly right, from taxes and totals to currency calculations, so this part of Local Invoice required careful testing.
Accountless licensing brought a different challenge. Buying and restoring Pro needed to handle interruptions gracefully without requiring a separate Local Invoice account. I tested the purchase and restore experience under different conditions and refined it before launch.
Accomplishments I'm proud of
I’m proud that Local Invoice brings the pieces needed to create an invoice into one straightforward experience, while keeping client information on the device.
Pro is a one-time $12.99 purchase.
What I learned
Building Local Invoice taught me how much easier a task can feel when the app responds as you work. Seeing the invoice come together in real time gives you a clearer sense of what you’re creating and makes it easier to adjust things along the way.
What's next
What comes next for Local Invoice will be guided by the people using it. I’ll pay attention to what freelancers and small businesses need, where the experience could be better, and use that feedback to guide future improvements.
