Inspiration
The Covid 19 pandemic and the lockdown have been a difficult time for small scale producers and farmers. Their business failed and their income reduced drastically. We wanted to do something for them as we feel they deserve something for their hardships. The name loca.ly was taken from the idea of marketing in the local region.
What it does
Our app loca.ly gives them an opportunity to sell their products in their regional areas at their best market prices. Farmers, craftsmen and small retailers can also get expert advices on products which are in demand in the market right now and produce their goods accordingly. They will be notified as soon as their products gets sold out. It also enables customers to buy these products from their locality without any middlemen and thus getting them at their true prices.
How we built it
We held many brainstorming sessions and online meetings to bring out the basic concept. Then the work was divided among ourselves .Our app model was designed on the figma platform. Slowly and steadily we gave birth to our idea.
Challenges we ran into
The design of our app is with the intention that we could transfer the products from a region where it is surplus to a scarce region. Finding such hubs were a difficult task. As beginners we found it difficult to incorporate AI technology to recommend the best prices to the sellers .
Accomplishments that we're proud of
For a few of us, this was their first hackathon. We are proud to have learnt from this hackathon that with the right amount of time and hardship anything is possible. We are sure that our app will be a great boost and an aid for all those striving craftsmen and farmers around us.
What we learned
There were innumerable things we learned in such a short span. We learned basics of AI technology and machine learning and to incorporate them in our project. we learned the importance of team work and dedication.
What's next for loca.ly
we are planning to take it up to next level by using AI technology to make it more user friendly.
