Inspiration

Many suburban and rural communities are filled with vibrant events and gatherings, yet they often go unnoticed due to a lack of centralized platforms. Loc.al was created to bridge that gap—connecting neighbors with local happenings, from farmers' markets to town festivals and volunteer opportunities. By making event discovery simple and accessible, we aim to strengthen community bonds, support local businesses, and ensure that no one misses out on the moments that bring people together.

What it does

This app lets users easily create and discover local events while fostering real connections. Attendees can join group chats with others who register, making it easy to coordinate, share updates, and connect before and after the event. Whether you're hosting or attending, staying engaged with your community has never been easier!

How we built it

We used Figma to design Loc.al.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges we ran into mainly center around understanding a cohesive aesthetic theme for the app and managing time better.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Accomplishments that we're proud of include the aesthetics, mainly the skies theme which tells users that they were destined to meet others because it was written in the stars. We're also proud that we designed an app we would use frequently in our daily lives, as we also endlessly long for people to connect and talk to.
