Inspiration

Our team comes from a range of backgrounds with different majors, relevant research experiences, and personal experiences in doctor's offices that informed our creation of Lobby. With many of our team members identifying as queer we have often felt like our identities were misunderstood or dismissed at the doctor's office. We hope to combat these challenges in the healthcare industry through creating an app that can help all patients and doctors build a better relationship around health and our conversations surrounding it.

What it does

Lobby is a comprehensive health platform designed to address the unique needs of marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals. We understand that visiting a doctor's office can be daunting, especially for those who may feel overlooked or uncomfortable disclosing certain aspects of their health or identity. Lobby offers personalized information and resources based on your genuine health profile, empowering patients to go to the doctor's office and prioritize their physical and mental wellbeing. By alleviating the awkwardness and anxiety often associated with initial health assessments and filling out questionnaires in the lobby of the doctor's office, we strive to encourage everyone to proactively engage with their healthcare journey.

How we built it

We built a high fidelity prototype of the app in Figma. Then we used Twine to code the basic information quiz that is at the introduction of the app.

Challenges we ran into

Our entire team was made up of non computer science majors with little to no prior coding knowledge. Learning entirely new coding languages and working together as a team on Figma for the first time posed some challenges in the process of creating Lobby.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are all proud of our dedication and commitment to our project. We all learned new skills and persevered through unexpected challenges. Some of the things we are most proud of are the functionality of the high fidelity prototype and the ability to save variables in the quiz.

What we learned

We learned how to code a quiz in Twine and create an app prototype in Figma. Prior to Pearl Hacks most of us had never used these programs, so creating something that we are proud of within the span of 24 hours taught us valuable skills not only in coding but in how to see through an idea from ideation to fruition.

What's next for Lobby

We would love to involve more experienced developers to help us launch Lobby into the IOS App Store. We would also love to work with health insurance companies and healthcare providers to increase resources for their customers and improve their customer experience.
