Inspiration
In the middle of the night, i watch Youtube videos of Lee Kuan Yew and other great thinkers for inspiration. I thought, what if I could ask him questions directly, like an oracle? Then, I thought, what if we could have a thousand oracles like him that we could pick and choose from. That would be like a pantheon of the best thinkers in history, from Musk to Michaelangelo, Kant to Confucius. LKY Oracle is just one instance, I envision a network of Oracles, that we can turn to for inspiration at any time.
What it does
Ask any question, and Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) Oracle returns a quote that his actual writings and archives. There is also an "skill" section where policymakers can design policies based on the policy thinking of the Singapore government, an effective, first principles driven approach to making lives better. There is also a fun art section where we imagine what kind of AI art he would have created had he access to modern AI tools.
How we built it
I used Codex to trawl the archives of Lee Kuan Yew including his major books, and return a quote for any question that best fits the question. From economics to politics to random questions like "What is the meaning of life?" or "Should we eat rice or noodles?". We also designed the page to be beautiful and appealing.
Challenges we ran into
In first test with friends, they found that the quotes returned were not super relevant. We refined the algorithm such that it got better at returning the right quotes.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We did something that a small group of people really love. AND this is generalisable. We can scale this prototype to create a whole network of oracles of great thinkers in history and modern times.
What we learned
Start with a small group of people that really care about a product, including myself, and build for them.
What's next for Lee Kuan Yew Oracle
Create a 1000 more oracles. Ultimately, users can pick and choose which oracles they want to subscribe to.
