Inspiration
Last year I went through a tough time with mental health and journaling helped me, but what was missing was the ability for someone to look through my journals and tell me whether I'm on the right track to making improvements. And later on, I wanted the same feature for when I was struggling with my business. After hearing other friends needing the same thing, I got inspired to build this app myself.
What it does
Living Journal allows you to create journal entries that then get looked at by AI advisors, each of them experts in their own domain, and then give you their input on how you should progress and help make better decisions.
How I built it
I used bolt.new to create the frontend, which calls my custom backend API to store journal entries and generate AI advice text.
Challenges I ran into
Not being a bolt.new user meant lots of stumbling blocks and learnings and false starts. T I struggled with getting bolt.new to create an API backend, which is why I created it myself outside of bolt.new after checking on Discord whether this is "legal" for the hackathon.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Building this somewhat complicated AI app in 3 days!
What I learned
To effectively use bolt.new I think you still need to have some web dev knowledge.
What's next for Living Journal
I'm all-in on this and I'll be turning this into a real commercial product. Harvard Business Review reports that the #1 use for generative AI like ChatGPT is therapy and companionship. I'm in a growing market.
