Inspiration
I was inspired by The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and my little cousin. The message was to spread kindness to others and maintain good relationships on his travels. I want little kids to do the same in the real world. Also, I know that traveling can cause anxiety, especially when you are young or new to traveling. So this is also a resource that is supposed to quell that anxiety by preparing you for what to expect.
What it does
A website that educates children about the airport and travel etiquette through reading, quizzes, and interactive activities.
How we built it
Built using Python, Html, CSS, and Javascript. The IDE used was Visual Studio Code.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm proud that I was able to mostly accomplish my vision for this project by myself within the time frame. I entered this hackathon with a lot of motivation and excitement. In the middle, I was getting overwhelmed with handling the back-end and front-end at the same time. It was obvious to me that I had to keep up my pace of work if I were to finish most of my tasks. With the motivation to see my project through to the finish line, I was able to complete it in time.
What we learned
I learned how to use Python Flask. I definitely want to practice implementing the back-end more and I would like to try my hand at using data. I went to the data science related workshops and it was something that interested me but didn't have the time to implement for this hackathon.
What's next for Little Traveler
I can see the potential and like the objective of this idea. If I am to continue working on this project, I would make it more interactive with games and bright colors that would interest the intended young audience.
