Inspiration

The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world. If love exists, it would be in a mother's arms. A mother's love is unconditional and she does everything in her power to protect and nurture her child. Despite a mother's ceaseless efforts and sacrifices, she is never recognized, not for her pains, nor for her struggles. Mother's love is taken for granted and she is expected to embrace the role without any issues. But let's face it. It's not easy to embrace a whole new life altogether. We need to understand that mothers can feel low and need our support to adjust to changes brought in their life.

What it does

Giving birth to a child is one of the most torturous physical pain that a woman willingly and happily endures. Besides the physical pain, the mental and psychological trauma that a woman undergoes during the process is beyond for us to imagine. Postpartum Depression affects not just the mother but also her child. PPD needs to be treated for better physical and mental health.

How we built it

The project was built on the Android studio framework using Flutter. We used 'Dart' as a programming language for authentication and reading purposes and for writing data we used 'Firebase'.

Challenges we ran into

In our journey, we faced some obstacles though with our dedication and hard work, we overcame them all. Though the pandemic menace was looming we worked together in a team to focus on women-related issues. Since the topic was out of the box for engineering students, we had to put in extra effort to learn about the topic through research papers and then narrowed it down to our use. Being a beginner in Flutter we faced some problems during the execution phase. Problems came in our way but we tackled them with great zeal.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to provide a handy solution for all the mothers out there giving their best to raise their kids in the best way possible. We also got to know the hardships a mother has to go through and now we stand tall that we not only acknowledged the issue but were also able to contribute to solving it. Apart from this we also did manage to work as a team and learned a lot of new things from each other. All of being beginners learned a lot through the process, not one technically but also learned the importance of teamwork.

What we learned

Working on this project helped us to learn and experience many new things. We realized the importance of working in a team. Listening to each other's opinions and taking on different problems helped us to broaden our thinking horizons. As engineering students, we learned a lot about human psychics by investing time in doing research on the topic. We gained insights into the problems faced by half the population which goes neglected, addressing this issue made us realize that we are a group of students who wish to bring a change to this world. During the project building process, we learned to solve word problems and also started to learn about new tech stacks.

What's next for Little Sparrow

In the future we will be bringing, an AI bot just like google assistant with the help of AI/ML so that user never feels lonely and can have someone to talk with. Also, we will be having a confidence booster section, wherewith the help of OpenCV will we track the expressions of the user and will motivate them to speak energy-filling statements with great expressions. This is last but not least, we are also planning to make a community section, where all patients will be able to interact with each other and will also daily receive help tips best for them during this stage of depression by our registered psychiatrists.
