Inspiration
Education is stagnant and needs to change. Learning is decentralised, teachers no longer teach in the same way they used to teach. The future does not require college degrees, but job skills. Yet, there is no existing verification platform that matches the decentralised learning journey of the users. We want to use web3 to change that.
We are a team of three passionate about education in the realm of web3 - a school teacher, a programmer who also teaches Web3 and creates content, and a UX designer invested into NFTs.
What it does
Litmus is here to PROVE the true strengths and skills of our users who are looking for jobs, just as litmus paper reveals the true element of a solution. Employers and employees can finally match their needs using a decentralised voting skills-based system.
How we built it
We built it together from user research through sending a survey to the NEARCON telegram group. We then interviewed individuals to ask their experiences in this area. We then made paper prototypes to test out our solutions and see how our audience reacts. We adjusted accordingly, iterated.
How it will be funded
Litmus is a collective initiative, the platform will be funded by taking a fee from users who want their profile reviewed. Judges must stake a certain amount of NEAR to hold them accountable, which we will take a commission from the interest gained as well to monetize the platform. Companies will be incentivized to
Challenges we ran into
We spent a lot of time trying to pin down the problem amongst all the problems there are in education. Making full use of every minute whilst trying to network was hard. We talked to a lot of mentors and participants at the hackathon to get their feedback to gather solutions. making smart contracts; finding the punchline of the pitch deck, putting a name to the solution.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Putting the team together on the first day of the hackathon! We met because of our open mic pitch. It's the dream team! We love working together and we have built a small community of women at NEAR through this team.
What we learned
we have learnt that we need to spend more time of the solution making, and start figuring out and pinning down the problems earlier. We learnt that there's a huge community there they can help us when we can start in coding - such as writing the smart contracts.
What's next for Litmus
Our team has the energy and time to continue coding and developing the product.
