Inspiration
When we were first informed that our topic will be on "environment", the first thing that popped out of our heads was how can we make a project that promotes that disrespecting the environment will cause karma. As a group of gamers the first project that we decided to do it to create a game that can promote this idea, thus, "Linus' Adventure"(Kingdom Fall) has born which is inspired by the good old Legends of Zelda.
What it does
In the game, you have to create our main character Linus to eliminate the corrupted trash mobs that are created by human's carelessness on the environment. When entering the game, the player will be presented with the story and after an array of slides the player enters the main game; the player's goal is to defeat a certain number of mobs to earn the victory.
How we built it
For this game, we decided to use the Pygame library to program the game. In order to make the game work, we created classes for the player, mobs, and for the other elements of the game. For every scene, we created a slide for it, when the player presses the screen the game automatically jumps to the next scene.
Challenges we ran into
During this period, we ran into challenges like the software not working, our ideas cannot being applied to the game due to restrictions, and the first time using pygame.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the progress of development when we finally solved a problem when we finally finished the work and the progress of this challenge.
What we learned
We have learned the basic components of pygame and that game development is not an easy task.
What's next for Linus' Adventure
We will try and bring bosses into it.
