Inspiration Finding local help for small tasks is frustrating. WhatsApp groups are chaotic, big platforms like Fiverr and Upwork are overwhelming and global. We wanted something simple — post a job, get help nearby, done. What it does LinkUp is a hyperlocal gig economy platform where anyone can post any job and anyone nearby can apply. Need a plumber? Post it. Need assignment help? Post it. Need a mechanic urgently? Post it. Any skill, any task, right around you. Users can chat, agree on price, and get things done instantly. How we built it

Next.js + React for frontend Tailwind CSS for styling Supabase for database and authentication Vercel for deployment GitHub Copilot for development assistance V0 by Vercel for UI prototyping

Challenges we ran into

Setting up real-time job feed across different user accounts Supabase authentication and email verification on localhost Building a clean location-based radius filter system Making the app fully responsive on mobile and desktop Managing database relationships between jobs, profiles, applications and messages

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a fully functional full-stack app in under 12 hours Real database integration — jobs posted by one user visible to all others Clean professional UI with dark/light mode Complete user profile system with trust scores and reviews Working chat system between job posters and applicants

What we learned

How to integrate Supabase with Next.js from scratch Importance of planning database structure before building How to handle real-time data across multiple users That a simple idea executed well beats a complex idea executed poorly

What's next for LinkUP

Mobile app (iOS + Android) AI-powered price suggestions based on location and job type Voice-to-post feature for quick job posting Payment escrow system inside the app Verified skill badges for workers Expanding to multiple cities and countries
