Inspiration

Managing links should be simple, but most tools either focus only on shortening URLs or provide limited analytics. We wanted to build a platform that helps creators, startups, marketers, and businesses understand what happens after someone clicks a link. Our goal was to create a single platform where users can create branded links, manage campaigns, generate QR codes, and make better decisions using real time analytics.

What it does

LinkForge is a smart link management platform that helps users create, organize, and track links from one dashboard.

Users can create branded short links, use custom domains, generate dynamic QR codes, schedule links, run A B tests, protect links with passwords, and monitor detailed analytics such as clicks, devices, locations, referrers, and campaign performance. The platform is designed to make link management simple while providing the insights needed to improve marketing performance.

How we built it

We built LinkForge using Next.js, TypeScript, Prisma, PostgreSQL, and Tailwind CSS.

The frontend provides a fast and responsive dashboard while the backend handles link management, analytics, authentication, and APIs. We also built a scalable redirect system that records analytics without slowing down users. The platform was designed with production readiness in mind, including secure authentication, efficient database queries, caching strategies, and support for future scaling.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was building a redirect system that remained fast while collecting detailed analytics. Every redirect needed to be reliable without increasing response time.

We also worked through challenges related to database optimization, production deployment, authentication, background processing, and making the dashboard responsive across different devices. Balancing performance, scalability, and user experience required continuous testing and refinement.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully built an end to end platform instead of a simple URL shortener.

Some of the features we are most proud of include smart redirects, dynamic QR codes, custom domains, real time analytics, campaign tracking, password protected links, scheduling, and A B testing. We also focused on creating a clean user experience with a dashboard that makes complex analytics easy to understand.

What we learned

Building LinkForge taught us how important performance, scalability, and user experience are in a production application.

We gained hands on experience with modern full stack development, database optimization, authentication, analytics pipelines, deployment, and designing software that can grow as the number of users increases. We also learned that building a reliable product requires constant testing, iteration, and attention to small details.

What's next for LinkForge

Our next goal is to make LinkForge an even more intelligent link management platform.

We plan to introduce AI powered campaign insights, predictive analytics, advanced team collaboration, deeper integrations with marketing platforms, conversion optimization tools, and more enterprise features. We also want to continue improving performance, expand global infrastructure, and make LinkForge a platform that businesses of every size can rely on for managing and understanding their online traffic.

Excited to share LinkForge for the OpenAI Build competition. I built the project using OpenAI Codex throughout development, using the available free tier after the hackathon credits were exhausted. Codex helped speed up development, code reviews, debugging, refactoring, and production readiness while I designed and implemented the platform. Looking forward to hearing your feedback.
