Inspiration

Do you get tired of having to constantly explain to your friends what went wrong with an ex or an old friend? Fear not! For we have the solution. Standard social media in our generation is already full of fakeness and toxicity. We have decided to embrace it and cut away the curtain.

What it does

LinkedOut is an ANTI social media. Its main focus is to make your network smaller by announcing who you are cutting off in your network/circle of friends to your other friends. Our main purpose for this program is promote healthier states of minds by creating a safe space to allow for people to remove the toxicity from their lives.

How we built it

We built the website using Next.js, Firebase and NextAuth. Using Next.js's new App router it was easier than ever to create route handlers to make our Firebase calls. We store all user and post data on Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges with authentication, as there is not much documentation on NextAuth. We were able to get through these struggles with the help of the mentors and able to have a safe and secure authentication system for our users.

What we learned

The biggest takeaway from this project was learning how to seamlessly integrate multiple frameworks into one cohesive full stack application. We learned how each of these components can work with each other to create even bigger and better applications.
