Inspiration
LinkedVA was inspired by members of our Vibecoders.ph community from the University of the Philippines who work as virtual assistants for US-based companies. Much of their work is repetitive, writing replies, keeping tone consistent, and copying lead data across tools. Instead of replacing their jobs with AI, I wanted to create a tool that gives them leverage, helping them focus on the creative and strategic side of their work while automating the repetitive parts.
What it does
LinkedVA is a Chrome extension that helps virtual assistants manage brand-consistent engagement and lead curation on LinkedIn. It combines two main workflows in one interface: • Brand Consistent Comments+Replies: Define and save a client’s tone, target audience, and keywords. • Lead Preview: Curate, refine, and export leads while generating AI-assisted, editable replies aligned with the brand.
The result is a smarter, faster, and more reliable workflow for human VAs who need to maintain authenticity at scale.
How we built it
We built LinkedVA using Chrome’s built-in AI capabilities and Gemini Nano for inline text generation. The challenge of getting the first version to work inside the browser taught us how powerful Chrome’s local AI layer can be.
Challenges we ran into
Working with Chrome’s new built-in AI was exciting but unstable at times, with limited references or examples available. We also had to balance AI assistance with human oversight, since VAs must always have control over tone and accuracy. Designing a simple but meaningful two-tab interface, one for brand setup, one for lead management, took multiple iterations before it finally felt right.
Another issue is that for our testers, it always takes time to set up the Gemini Nano. The progress of the download is unclear. There is no notification whether the model is ready or not, we need to keep looking at chrome://on-device-internals/ (Model status)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
At first, we started the project with only ReplyBot in mind, simple idea, help VAs respond to comments in a brand-consistent fashion. As we interviewed more VAs, we realised the need for another extension, hence, LeadExtract was born.
Finally, realizing that both extensions are workflows on top of LinkedIn, we decided to merge the two.
We successfully merged two separate prototypes, ReplyBot and LeadExtract, into one cohesive system. LinkedVA now lets VAs define brand context and immediately use it to generate and manage outreach, all inside Chrome. We’re proud that it represents a distinctly Filipino innovation story: using AI to elevate human workers, not replace them.
What we learned
We learned how to integrate Chrome’s AI stack in practical, lightweight ways. We also discovered that community-driven testing, especially through our Vibecoders.ph network, dramatically accelerates iteration. Most importantly, we learned that AI has its greatest impact when it amplifies real people’s work instead of trying to automate it away.
What's next for LinkedVA
Next, we plan to add multi-brand profiles, team collaboration features, and direct sync with tools like Notion and Google Sheets. Within Vibecoders.ph, we’re creating a bounty and leaderboard system to encourage members to improve extensions like LinkedVA. Our long-term vision is to position the Philippines as the global hub for AI-augmented virtual assistant talent.
