Inspiration
We thought about the unwritten rule of not being able to say what you actually want when you are networking and how this results in so many conversations that never lead to opportunity. From this, we synthesised this problem statement: "Working professionals want to build genuine, lasting connections at tech networking events, but unspoken social norms around avoiding directness make it hard to express what they actually want from a conversation. This leaves them stuck in surface-level, repetitive exchanges that rarely lead anywhere"
This was reframed into the following HMW: 'How might allow working professionals to build relevant connections at networking events, without requiring them to directly state their intentions."
What it does
LinkedUP matches Working professionals with similar gaols so that they know who to prioritise talking to without being blunt with what their intentions are.
How we built it
We sketched out the early low-fi wireframes on paper and then built the final mockup on Figma.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled to frame our 'How Might We' statement to reflect the data we discovered during our research. We ended up iterating this many times until we landed on a statement that best reflected our data and providing a clear direction to move forward in.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to pick a problem statement that was relevant to the brief quite quickly. We started off with many topics but we were able to identify that they were not working before we moved too far into our research.
What we learned
We learnt the importance of time management. It's very easy to get caught up perfecting one thing but when you have such a short time frame you have to learn when to move on.
What's next for Linked Up
Pitch the idea to LinkedIn and promote it by getting working professionals to test it out.
