Inspiration
To help aid students interested in computer science find the CS-related specialization suited for them. It can be overwhelming for students without the adequate resources and support given from their communities and schools to explore their interest in STEM- therefore many in marginalized communities avoid doing so.
What it does
Website has many functions to help a student find a STEM specialization that is interesting and relevant to them- including a personalized quiz, resume screener, and pages of information for them to explore different career paths.
How we built it
Website was built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while the Resume Screener program was created with Java
Challenges we ran into
It was difficult trying to embed a Java program into my HTML website and after many research I found that the application for this function was not applicable anymore. Instead, I had to link the program and give the user instructions on how to use the Resume Screener, which ended up being effective!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of the way that the website turned out, especially considering it was coded from scratch. From all of the different functions to figuring out format and color scheme, there were many challenges. Additionally, the Resume Screener was out of my existing skill level and I had to do a lot of research to create it. However, I am very proud of the final project!
What we learned
I learned how to read and analyze a file on Java. I also learned how to create and format a website using HTML.
What's next for Untitled
In the future, I would like to expand the website to include many more careers related to STEM as well as adding more resources for students. I would also like to find a way for the user to upload their own file into the Resume Screener code.
