Inspiration
I wanted a simple way to share a single link that gives people controlled access to an Airtable full of business contacts. Most lead-sharing or CRM tools are overcomplicated, and I just needed something lightweight — no logins, no clutter, just a way to send someone a link and let them view or copy the leads I wanted them to see.
What it does
Link Pay Leads creates one clean, trackable link that points people to a shared Airtable of contacts. You can decide who gets access, track clicks, and even swap out the destination later if you want to update or remove the data. It’s a quick way to give clients or collaborators lead lists without sending spreadsheets or worrying about permissions.
How I built it
I set up a simple Flask backend that serves short links and tracks clicks, connected it to Airtable’s API, and added a minimal web interface. The links redirect users straight to the correct Airtable view, and I can control what’s visible from the Airtable side. Hosting is handled on a basic VPS, and the design is intentionally minimal.
Challenges I ran into
The hardest part was balancing simplicity with control — making something fast and clean, while still having basic tracking and access management. Airtable’s sharing links also have quirks, so I had to work around how they handle permissions and redirects.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
It works — you click the link, and you get instant access to the Airtable, no signups or confusion. I’m proud of keeping it simple and focused instead of bloating it with unnecessary features.
What I learned
Sometimes a useful tool doesn’t need to be complex. A small, focused product that solves one specific problem well — like sharing lead data safely — can be more valuable than a big, feature-heavy platform.
What's next for Link Pay Leads
Next, I’d like to add optional paywalls or “unlock” steps so people can sell or gate access to their Airtable data. I’m also thinking about adding a dashboard to see link performance and maybe integrations with Stripe or Gumroad for paid access.
