How we built it

Link It was built using modern web technologies, primarily focusing on advanced client-side JavaScript for encoding user-provided content directly into the URL query parameters. This involved developing a robust algorithm for efficient data serialization and deserialization to ensure that comprehensive profile information could be stored within standard URL length limits while remaining universally compatible. The front-end was designed for responsiveness and minimalist performance to leverage the speed benefits of the URL-encoded data.

Challenges we ran into

The primary challenge was efficiently compressing diverse user data into a URL-compatible string while maintaining data integrity and universal browser/platform compatibility. Balancing the amount of content a user could add with the practical length limits of URLs presented a significant technical hurdle. Ensuring rapid encoding and decoding without noticeable latency was also a key challenge, requiring careful optimization of our client-side logic.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are immensely proud to have successfully implemented the core concept of storing all user data directly within the URL, achieving true server-less operation for a personal profile page. We delivered an incredibly fast and private link-in-bio creation and viewing experience, eliminating typical barriers to entry.
