Inspiration
All the fan favourite rougelikes that bring a unique twist, 20 Minuts Till Dawn, Slugterra, and so many more. Games that combine unique mechanics like Portal 1, and 2, where you cannot be afraid of trying a new genre.
What it does
Our project may not show much in visual indicators, but we spent tireless hours developing a scalable and solid backend that could carry mountains. We even had the oppurtunity to add our own original soundtrack, just to show you how far we can go for a dream.
How we built it
Using Unity 3D built in render pipeline, in the programming language C#. We planned for a long time, creating a simple game design document, splitting up the workflow, and staying organized. Slowly we built the foundation and the mechanics we envisioned, using Git as our version control we made sure to keep it organized, and commited often.
Challenges we ran into
Where do I begin, Git provided a few hiccups, mainly because this is a first for the both of us in this setting. A few mismatched commands and the terminal and the project yell at you. Then we ran into scope creep, and issues with learning so many new concepts on the go. Then the drowsiness kicked in, and motivation feels like a rollercoaster. Even so we used every second to give it our best shot to see our vision realized, but even so the sunrise came, and this too has passed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Staying focused for so many consequtevy hours and being able to rely on someone and help eachother whenever possible. And the amount of progress we made it phenomenal, for the two of us.
What we learned
Keeping expectations real but still trying our best to achieve greater things than we thought possible before. We both took steps into unknown terratories where we had no clue where to go. But yet we somehow made it further than we thought before, with so many lessons in the bag for the future to come.
