Inspiration The vision for LinguLearn stemmed from a personal passion for breaking language barriers and making education accessible globally. As a Certified AI Engineer with experience in healthcare, education, and telecom, I, Taha Akbar, was inspired by AI's potential to revolutionize language learning. The unique challenges of mastering Arabic and Urdu—due to their distinct sounds and scripts—motivated me to create an AI-powered platform to support learners worldwide. What it does LinguLearn is an AI-powered language learning platform focused on Arabic, Urdu, and English. It offers interactive features like the AI Voice Agent for natural conversations, Sounds for phonetic pronunciation, Words for vocabulary building with audio highlights, and Sentences for practicing translations. Users can follow tailored learning paths—Beginners and Advanced—to master essential skills, with real-time translations and role-play options. How we built it The project was built using modern web technologies and hosted on Netlify for easy deployment. I developed the AI Voice Agent with advanced conversational AI, integrating audio playback for words and sentences. The platform features a dark-themed interface with orange and purple accents, designed for user-friendliness. Learning modules were crafted with phonetic guidance, categorized content, and multilingual support, ensuring a comprehensive experience. Challenges we ran into We faced branding inconsistency, with the name varying as "LinguLearn," "LinguistLearn," and "Linguilearn." Grammatical errors in the AI agent’s messages and placeholder contact details, like fictional phone numbers, were hurdles. Limited content variety in the Sentences section and ensuring text contrast for accessibility also posed challenges, requiring iterative design and testing to resolve. Accomplishments that we're proud of We’re proud of creating a functional AI Voice Agent that tailors lessons to user levels, achieving a claimed 98% success rate with 100+ active learners. The platform’s modern design and multilingual support, including unique Arabic and Urdu content, stand out. Successfully integrating real-time translations and audio playback across categories is a significant milestone. What we learned The project deepened my understanding of multilingual AI, phonetic design, and user-centered development. I learned to address branding consistency, improve content variety, and enhance accessibility. The experience highlighted the importance of thorough testing and the value of iterative feedback in refining a learning platform. What's next for LinguLearn Next, we aim to standardize the brand name, expand sentence and word categories, and verify contact details. We plan to add mobile responsiveness, user testimonials, and a tutorial for the AI agent. Long-term goals include scaling to more languages and integrating advanced AI features to further enhance the learning journey.
