Inspiration

Language learning can feel overwhelming, especially for beginners. I wanted to create a tool that makes the process fun, interactive, and bite-sized—just like a game. Our goal was to help users pick up essential phrases in multiple languages through repetition, voice pronunciation, and gamified progression.

What it does

  • Interactive flashcards with definitions, examples, and pronunciation
  • Native voice playback for each phrase
  • Progress tracking and scoring system
  • "Learned” and “Difficult” tags for each word
  • Language selection via dropdown menu
  • Vibrant, playful UI to keep motivation high

How we built it

One Prompt using bolt.new. Prompt used "Create a gamified flashcard web application for learning new languages. It should present words, definitions, and example sentences, allowing users to mark words as learned or difficult. Include a simple scoring system and progression tracking. The design should be playful and encouraging, with clear typography and appealing color gradients. Ensure the flashcard interface is highly interactive and engaging. Include a pronounciation text on each flash card in english. Allow dropdown selections and basic examples ot 10 major languages. There should be upto 25 basic phrases for each language, with voice pronounciations"

Challenges we ran into

  • UI Design and spacing issues
  • Adjusting detail level for single prompt. Too much can cause hallucination

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Built an MVP that is actually fun to use
  • Created a seamless experience across 10 languages
  • Designed a UI that’s both functional and delightful
  • Implemented real voice playback and progression logic

  • Mobile-first redesign for on-the-go learning
  • Add more languages and levels, including grammar and verb tenses
  • Social learning features like leaderboards or streak battles
  • AI-powered personalized flashcard generation based on difficulty
