Inspiration

We wanted to make ESL writing support feel more encouraging, personalized, and practical. Many learners struggle not because they lack ideas, but because they need help expressing them clearly and confidently.

What it does

lingolift-esl-writer helps English learners improve their writing by giving AI-powered feedback, suggestions, and language support. It helps users refine grammar, clarity, vocabulary, and overall fluency while keeping their original meaning.

How we built it

We built the app with a modern web stack and integrated AI to analyze writing and generate helpful revisions and feedback. The product was designed to feel simple and supportive so learners can focus on improving their writing instead of getting overwhelmed.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was making the feedback useful without making it feel overly robotic or discouraging. We also had to balance correctness with preserving the learner’s voice and intent.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating a tool that feels practical, accessible, and learner-centered. We built an experience that not only corrects writing, but also helps users understand how to improve over time.

What we learned

We learned that great AI writing tools need more than strong model output. They also need thoughtful UX, clear explanations, and a tone that builds user confidence rather than just pointing out mistakes.

What's next for lingolift-esl-writer

Next, we want to add more personalized feedback, learner progress tracking, and support for different proficiency levels. We’d also love to expand the app with guided exercises, teacher-facing tools, and more multilingual support.
