Inspiration
The inspiration for this project came from one of our group members who shared about her mom's recent struggles while helping her grandparents at the hospital. She was constantly having to phone in, and had to be pulled away from other obligations. We thought about how this can be improved, but at the current state of technology, there really doesn't seem to be a perfect replacement for a live person translating. So that's what we decided to make. A hub that connects users with possible real time human translators.
What it does
Our website has a fully working user and authentication service. This was built from scratch with Wix and Wix Code. We then built an on-demand service around this with a lot of openings for extensions. We had user ratings, a language system, a matching system, and a built in call system.
How I built it
We built this entire project in Wix and Wix Code. Our front end was able to take advantage of a much quicker and easier build process with real time feedback. On the back end we had a few things to learn but soon got off and running. We were able to leverage the serverless architecture provided by Wix Code to great effect, keeping our code very concise and well designed.
