Briefly describe your project in relation to the design prompt (200 words max) Lines of Power relates to the design prompt by highlighting the underlying issue of homelessness not being appropriately addressed through resource allocation, despite being placed in a future with advanced infrastructure and technology. The game hints at a dystopian society with societal control through the abuse of technology, as technology becomes a representation of authoritarian aspects in the game.
Describe your main design decisions and how they contribute to your product (300 words max) We believed that the rough cartoony characters would appeal to users of all ages and be more interesting to see than fully rendered characters, especially when the objective of this game’s design is to deliver a message regarding a serious topic, such as homelessness, efficiently and quickly. A monochromatic theme was chosen to correlate with the aesthetic of a futuristic dystopian society, where technology often takes up authoritarian positions.
