Inspiration
We are a sophomore team. In the second year of education each of us came across with the problem of learning algorithms in the university. Sometimes it was unclear and difficult to understand how algorithm works, sometimes the process of learning was boring. Going through all these difficulties, now we are convinced that we can make monotonous, tedious study fascinating and comprehensible.
What it does
Our application that was developed during this hackaton makes study of ml algorithms fun and exciting. A student or anyone who uses our app can get a sense of how algorithm works due our visualizations.
How we built it
Part of our team was engaged in the development of a mobile application using a React Native cross-platform framework. In the application, the developers implemented a friendly interface, added animations, added the ability to add to favorites. At the same time, our other part of the team has developed web visualizations using JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
Challenges we ran into
We came across with a lot of problems in visualization process. We tried to show how algorithms work in details and give people a choice from different cases of datasets and steps of algorithm
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are extremely proud that we managed to figure out how to make wonderful visualizations at such short notice. We made good interactive app which is useful for anyone who wants to study ml algorithms.
What we learned
First of all, we learned how to use React Native to make our app which contains algorithm cards and links to the visualization. We found a lot info about ml algorithms and how to visualize them. We found out how works EM algorithm and decision tree inside to give people opportunity of interaction with them in our examples.
What's next for Linears
We are going to create more visualizations of ml algorithms. Also we would like to add some more interesting ways to learn algorithms. It can be a gamification or some visual instruments that can simplify people's learning and make it more fun
