Inspiration# Liminalities
Inspiration
"Liminalities" explores the balance between masculine and feminine energies within every human being. I was inspired by the Indian concept of Ardhanarishvara, where Shiva and Parvati exist as one form, symbolizing harmony, equality, and completeness.
Project
The artwork presents a single face divided into two halves. One side represents Shiva with cool blue tones, while the other represents Parvati with warm earthy colors. Although visually different, both halves form one complete identity, expressing that strength and compassion, logic and emotion, can coexist.
Creative Process
I began with pencil sketches to achieve facial symmetry and then layered acrylic colors to create contrast between the two identities. Careful attention was given to expressions, color balance, and symbolic details so that both sides appear different yet connected.
Challenges
The greatest challenge was maintaining perfect facial proportions while giving each half its own distinct personality. Balancing warm and cool color palettes without losing visual harmony required several revisions.
What I Learned
This project strengthened my understanding of symbolism, color psychology, and visual storytelling. It also deepened my appreciation for Indian philosophy and its timeless message of unity through diversity.
