Inspiration

We were inspired to create Lilip through our findings that cholesterol is not only a key predictor of cardiovascular health, but can affect one’s overall mental health. With the elderly having a predisposition to loneliness and social isolation, we figured creating Lilip could serve as a way to assist them with maintaining their health while also providing them a sense of companionship.

What it does

The application takes user input through speech transcription and uses Open AI’s API to analyze the data. Open API then provides a response to the user through data analysis, detailing what the user should do to maintain their health. What makes Lilip special from other health recommendation applications is the mascot, Lili. Lili is a wise and friendly owl with a passion for knowledge, especially when it concerns one’s health.

How we built it

We built this application using React + Vite.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges with the speech transcription—specifically with capturing the correct data at the correct time. For instance, some data would not be caught until the user repeated themself or would be used for the wrong inputs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the fact that we were able to create an application that assists a vulnerable group of people with a critical predictor of health: cholesterol.

What we learned

We learned that home healthcare is a rapidly growing industry that serves vulnerable people who especially require more resources to maintain their health and well-being.

What's next for Lilip

We plan to create a more intuitive interface, possibly even moving to a mobile environment for ease of use. We would also like to application to be more personable.
