⚡ Inspiration

There are many people around whose loved ones live very far from them and often its kinda tough to feel the affection that they need. This is what we had for inspiration. We wanted to make something that would let people feel loved and affectionate as if their partners are right beside them. We also saw there was a cute thing called long distance lamps, that would come into pairs and change color on both of them when someone would tap on them. That is what we had for our inspiration, and we wanted to make an app version of it, but better <3

💞 What it does

Its a flutter where you can either create a room or join an existing one, which would be like a safe space for you and your loved ones. There, you can change the background of the screen, send cute notes and do a lot more. As soon as you send note and change color, it would be sent to your counterpart and the color would change on their screen as well. Similarly, when they send you a note or change color, the changes would be reflected on your app. We also added a cute nudge notification which vibrates your phone in a rhythmic manner, and it also sends a twilio mail to the receiver to let them know that theyve got a new note

A user can also see all their notes in a very visually appeasing manner, as if they're handwritten

We also made a promo website from where users can download android apk and use it.

💖 How we built it

• We used flutter for making our mobile app
• We used flask to host our api that sends emails to people through twilio
• We used HTML CSS to make our intro website

💔 Challenges we ran into

We ran into a couple of problems:-
• Flutter giving unexpected errors
• Integrating our get api hosted on flask to send twilio sendgrid emails
• completing the project in time.

💘 Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're very proud of completing it in time and adding multiple features to it. Also, we are happy that we made something for loved ones that live far from each!!

🐥 What we learned

We learnt a lot of things, including:-
• Making cute designs on flutter
• Making an API in twilio with GET request compatibility and sending emails
• Utilizing firebase

💡 What's next for Lights Up

We would want to a nice hardware version of it, which would get auto connected with our lights up app, and would give even more sense of affection <3
