Inspiration

I've always had an interest in coding and more specifically, game design. I never found the time to fully make something I wanted nor did I have the knowledge. I decided to make my first completed game as the Kent Hack Enough event encourages it and provides me both the dedication and ability to.

What it does

My game is an arcade-style 2D game where you collect light bulbs to increase your points. While doing so, you will be chased down by a ghost who will deplete your health on contact. A unique system called the charge system will allow the character to release a pulse of light that will light up surroundings and repel the ghost.

How we built it

I have built my game by myself on the Unity game engine.

Challenges we ran into

I do not have a laptop readily available so I had to borrow one which uses Linux as an operating system. I have not used Linux before and it was definitely a challenge learning how to install new stuff as an unfamiliar user.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I've handcrafted my own sprites and I have a full map layout. I also have visible display bars and a basic enemy AI.

What we learned

I've learned more about how to use Unity, C# knowledge, game development knowledge, and how to use navigate Linux.

What's next for Lights Out Game

I plan on implementing the charge system further and I also plan on polishing and including a title screen.
