Inspiration
We first wanted to design a game that would be achievable in the timeframe we had. For this reason, we wanted to go with a game had a minimalistic HUD and mechanics. We ended up brainstorming on a game that would immerse the player in simple exploration while focusing on the game's atmosphere.
What it does
Its a game that places the player It's a calming experience that is supposed to explore what's its like to have curiosity but fear to explore it.
How we built it
We used Unity3D on the URP 2D renderer.
Challenges we ran into
We started the project mid-day into the second day of the Hackathon making the project very difficult to complete. In fact, we finished the project in one 24-hour sitting.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The atmosphere of the game. We tried to focus on aesthetics that would build the mood of the game. For this reason we got to experiment a lot with visuals and audio samples.
What we learned
I think across the board our team become way more proficiency using Unity especially its 2D features. Most of the team has experience around 3D so this was certainly refreshing and challenging.
What's next for Light Wanderer.
We will see, we loved how much we could go with the game for so little time.
