In today's fast-paced world, many individuals struggle to connect with expert consultants when they need advice. Traditional methods—such as scheduled calls or emails—often lead to delays and missed opportunities. This inspired us to create a solution that bridges the communication gap by providing an intuitive, fast, and reliable platform for consultancy.

What It Does

Light Talk is an AI-powered consultancy platform that leverages Twilio’s robust APIs to enable:

  • Instant Messaging: Rapid communication via SMS, voice calls, and WhatsApp.
    • SMS: Enjoy response times that are up to 45% faster than traditional email (Twilio Blog).
    • Voice Calls: Real-time, engaging conversations that allow for nuanced advice.
    • WhatsApp: With over 2 billion users worldwide (Statista), WhatsApp integration ensures familiar and trusted interactions.
  • Live Avatar Interaction: An interactive avatar simulates the expert’s persona—be it a school guidance counselor, a microprocessor consultant, or any other specialist—to provide a warm, personalized experience.
  • Flexible Pricing Plans:
    • Free Version: 3 minutes of consultation.
    • Gold Plan: 20 minutes daily for \$30/month.
    • Diamond Plan: 1 hour daily for \$85/month.
  • Verified Experts: We rigorously verify our consultants to ensure quality and reliability, reducing the risk of scams and guaranteeing professional advice.

How We Built It

Our tech stack centers on:

  • Python & Flask: For a lightweight, scalable backend.
  • Twilio APIs: Seamlessly integrating SMS, voice, and WhatsApp functionalities.
  • Azure AI OpenAI's API: Seamlessly integrating GPT-4o model API from Azure AI foundary for NLP.
  • Azure chat Avatar: integrating Azure SST(Speech-To-Text) and TTS(Text-To-Speech) , with GPT-4o.
  • Modern Front-End Technologies: Using Bootstrap for a responsive UI/UX.
  • Secure Environment Management: All sensitive credentials are managed via a .env file with python-dotenv to ensure security and ease of configuration.
  • Scalable SaaS Architecture: Designed to serve both individual consultants and larger organizations.

The source code was straightforward to write and deploy, and we encountered no major obstacles in either development or hosting.

Challenges We Ran Into

While the overall process was smooth, we did face some challenges:

  • Integration Testing: Ensuring the seamless operation of SMS, voice, and WhatsApp channels required extensive testing.
  • UI/UX Balance: Creating an interface that is both feature-rich and uncluttered involved multiple iterations.
