Inspiration
Light Bob was inspired by a common issue in shared homes: wasted energy and roommate tension. The root cause is the Diffusion of Responsibility — when no one feels directly accountable for turning off the lights. This leads to both energy waste and small conflicts like, “I thought you did it.” Light Bob offers a friendly, playful reminder system that builds clear accountability and helps everyone develop an eco-conscious, respectful nightly routine.
What it does
Dynamically assigns light-off duty and tracks savings.
How we built it
The Onboarding Flow, The Daily Loop (the core value proposition), and the Feedback and Improvement Cycle.
Challenges we ran into
- Overcame Diffusion of Responsibility and friction.
- Conflict Avoidance
- Balancing AI and Awareness
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We are proud of successfully reframing sustainability as a series of small, mindful gestures—such as turning off a light—rather than focusing on large-scale systems
- The implementation of AI Dynamic Duty Assignment provides customized, contextual accountability ## What we learned
- The project reframes sustainability as a series of small, mindful gestures, like turning off a light, rather than large-scale systems or data-driven efficiency.
- AI is used not to control behavior, but to observe, visualize, and gently remind, encouraging human awareness instead of removing it. ## What's next for Untitled
- AI Suggestions: The AI is designed to analyze the light switch locations and usage patterns to suggest permanent, energy-saving improvements for the room.
- Continuous Improvement Cycle: The system will continue to refine its AI Behavior Analysis and Prediction to improve the accuracy of duty assignment and personalized insights.
- Daily Log Expansion: Further development can enhance the Daily Log function for deeper data visualization and habit tracking.
