Inspiration

Inspiration was recent natural disasters that happen to impact my friends and family in Los Angeles (wildfires). We wanted to provide a platform that helps supports those survivors and give an opportunity for people to support these impactees.

What it does

It is a platform that lists out events that range from food distribution centers in a certain proximity to temporary housing. People can host events and support those in need.

How we built it

We us a mobile app framework called React Native along with Flask for storing user data in a database which was SQLite.

Challenges we ran into

We had big aspirations and got ahead of ourselves in terms of straying away from our main functionality. We also didn't plan how we would store user data in advance so coding it midway gave us a lot of roadblocks.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to not only implement our main feature but also add nice little side features that enhance the user experience of our mobile app.

What we learned

We learned that we should've planned out our idea more and flush it out. We should've dove into very specific details so that we were all on the same page as well as addressing problems early before we run into them hours into coding.
