Inspiration

Our standard education system fails students with learning disabilities every single day. LiftEd is the platform to give teachers a edge in the ever losing battle to diagnose the problem, and execute a solution.

What it does

LiftEd is an all-in-one platform that helps teachers create, manage, and update IEPs without relying on the current bureaucratic system. It offers real-time progress tracking, individualized dashboards, and personalized AI-powered IEP recommendations.

How we built it

We build LiftEd using Next.js for frontend, Node.js for backend, and convex for data storage.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into issues with implementing OAuth, as FERPA is an important cornerstone of education.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to build a fully functional site containing a complex data schema.

What we learned

We learned how important planning in advance was, to plan out each feature before implementing them.

What's next for LiftEd

Next, we want to pilot LiftEd in real classrooms, gathering more feedback from teachers, administrators, and parents. We plan to add integrations with popular learning management systems (LMS) and develop features that support students' social and emotional learning (SEL) goals alongside academic ones. Long term, we envision LiftEd becoming a full suite of tools for differentiated instruction, accessible to every school.
