It includes:

  • A task and habit system with XP and streak tracking
  • A dual-mode interface:
    • Fantasy Mode (RPG-style quests with a mentor)
    • Focus Mode (minimal interface for deep work)
  • AI-generated tasks adapted to the user
  • A built-in calendar to organize daily planning
  • A favorites system to quickly access useful links (like study tools or resources)
  • A customizable music system where users can play their preferred sounds for better focus

The app combines structure, motivation, and personalization in a single experience.

Inspiration

As a student, I often noticed how difficult it is to stay motivated and focused while studying. Many productivity tools feel repetitive or boring, which makes it even harder to stay consistent.

As a young girl interested in technology and AI, I wanted to create something different: an application that makes productivity more engaging, accessible, and even enjoyable.

This project was inspired by the idea that learning and discipline don’t have to feel like a chore, but can instead feel like a game or a guided experience.

What it does

LifeQuest AI is an AI-powered productivity app designed to help students stay motivated and focused.

It offers two modes:

  • Fantasy Mode: transforms tasks into quests in an immersive RPG-style environment with a mentor guiding the user.
  • Focus Mode: provides a clean, minimal interface with calming sounds to support deep work.

The app includes task management, an XP system, streak tracking, and AI-generated tasks adapted to the user’s needs.

How we built it

The application was built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to keep it lightweight and accessible.

Key features include:

  • A task management system with localStorage
  • A gamification system with XP and levels
  • A dual-mode interface (Fantasy and Focus)
  • AI integration using the X.AI API to generate personalized tasks

The project follows a modular structure, separating core logic from UI to ensure scalability and clarity.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was designing two completely different user experiences within the same application while keeping everything consistent and intuitive.

Another challenge was integrating AI in a meaningful way, ensuring that generated tasks were useful, relevant, and aligned with the user’s context.

Balancing design, functionality, and simplicity was also a key difficulty during development.

What we learned

We learned how to design a more complete user experience by combining multiple features such as task management, AI, and personalization tools.

We also learned how to think beyond a single feature and build an ecosystem that supports users in different aspects of productivity.

What's next for LifeQuest AI

Next steps include improving AI personalization, adding user accounts, and expanding the gamification system with rewards and achievements.

I also want to continue developing this project to make it more accessible and useful for students worldwide.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of building a complete productivity ecosystem instead of a simple task manager. The integration of AI, gamification, calendar planning, favorites, and music creates a unique and personalized experience for users.

The app adapts to different needs: motivation, organization, and focus.
