Inspiration
Everyday life is full of scattered information: school deadlines, bills, receipts, groceries, appointments, and reminders. The problem isn't that we don't have enough apps to store information — it's that we still have to decide what deserves our attention.
I built LifePilot around one question: "What should I do now?"
What it does
LifePilot is an iOS personal utility that turns everyday information into clear next actions.
Users can drop information into the Life Inbox, where LifePilot organizes different types of information such as tasks, bills, groceries, appointments, receipts, and reminders.
The What Should I Do Now? feature looks across the user's life instead of only one to-do list. It prioritizes things such as an assignment due tonight, food expiring today, or a bill due tomorrow.
LifePilot can also turn captured information into actions, including adding items to the Pantry and working with native iOS features such as Calendar and Reminders.
How I built it
LifePilot is a native iOS application built with Swift and SwiftUI.
I used SwiftData for local persistence and created a prioritization engine that evaluates tasks, bills, groceries, and appointments based on urgency.
The project also uses an AI service architecture for turning unstructured information into structured actions, while keeping the application functional with local demo and fallback behavior.
For real-world capture, the project explores Apple's native frameworks for OCR, photos, Calendar, and Reminders.
Challenges I ran into
One of the biggest challenges was deciding how much LifePilot should automate. I didn't want AI to silently make decisions for the user, so the experience is designed around understanding information, showing what was detected, and letting the user confirm important actions.
I also had to connect several different types of information while keeping the app simple enough to answer one question quickly: what needs my attention right now?
What I learned
This was my first attempt at combining local iOS data, prioritization, native device capabilities, and AI-style information understanding into one workflow.
I learned that the most useful AI experience isn't always a chatbot. Sometimes it is a system quietly turning messy information into something actionable.
What's next
I would like to expand LifePilot with smarter receipt understanding, better expiration predictions, richer Calendar and Reminders integration, personalized prioritization, and secure cloud-powered AI analysis.
The long-term vision is simple:
Capture → Understand → Prioritize → Act.
