LifePilot AI — Your Personal Productivity Companion

Inspiration

Managing daily tasks, personal goals, and different conversations can become overwhelming. I wanted to build a simple AI-powered companion that brings everyday productivity into one place and helps users turn their intentions into actionable steps.

What it does

LifePilot AI combines task management with an AI-powered conversational assistant. Its goal is to help users organize their work, manage tasks, ask questions, and approach their goals with greater clarity.

Key features include:

Task Management: Create, view, complete, and organize tasks.
AI Conversations: Interact with an AI assistant to ask questions and explore ideas.
Conversational Context: Maintain recent conversation context to make follow-up questions more natural.
Gemini AI Integration: Use Google's Gemini AI through the Google Gen AI SDK to power assistant responses.

How I built it

I built LifePilot AI using Python and FastAPI for the backend, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the user interface, SQLite for local data storage, and Google's Gemini AI for conversational intelligence. Environment variables are used to manage configuration and protect the API key.

I also used Git and GitHub for version control and prepared the project for cloud deployment.

Challenges I faced

One of my biggest challenges was preparing a locally developed Python application for deployment. Resolving dependency issues, configuring environment variables, and troubleshooting serverless runtime errors helped me understand that building an application involves more than writing code—it also requires careful configuration, testing, and deployment planning.

What I learned

Through this project, I strengthened my understanding of API development, frontend-backend integration, database operations, AI integration, environment-variable management, GitHub workflows, and deployment troubleshooting.

What's next

My next goals are to complete cloud deployment, improve the reliability of the application, strengthen data persistence, and expand the assistant's productivity features.

LifePilot AI represents my effort to combine practical software engineering with AI to create a useful everyday productivity experience.
