Inspiration

Managing study materials, deadlines, revision schedules, and practice quizzes across different tools can be overwhelming. We wanted to build an AI assistant that goes beyond answering questions and helps users turn their intentions into actionable tasks.

What We Built

Nexus AI is a context-aware personal AI workspace designed to connect document understanding, task management, study planning, and quiz generation through a conversational interface.

Users can interact with the assistant to understand their notes, organise priorities, create study tasks, plan revision sessions, and practise topics through quizzes.

How It Works

Nexus AI combines an AI-powered agent with a Model Context Protocol (MCP)-based tool integration layer. The agent can use available tools to retrieve relevant information and perform supported operations through the application's backend.

The application brings these workflows together through a unified interface featuring a knowledge base, task manager, smart planner, quizzes, and activity history.

What Makes It Different

Instead of treating AI as just a chatbot, Nexus AI focuses on connecting conversations with practical actions. Its goal is to help users move from asking for assistance to completing meaningful tasks within one workspace.

Challenges

One of our main challenges was coordinating the AI assistant, backend operations, persistent storage, and MCP tools while keeping the application understandable and reliable. We also worked on improving the interface so users can clearly see the results of AI-assisted actions.

What's Next

We aim to improve voice interaction, strengthen tool orchestration, enhance document retrieval, and make multi-step workflows more reliable. Our long-term vision is to create a personal AI workspace that helps people organise information and accomplish everyday goals with less friction.

I helped develop the Nexus AI project, which is an AI-enabled platform that assists with academic and interview preparation for the Amazon Developer Hackathon 2026. My responsibilities were mainly related to AI integration, workflow design, and the creation of functionalities that would allow students to ask academic questions, prepare for exams, plan their studies, and practice for interviews. I also helped with technical development, testing, and debugging of the project to increase its efficiency. The development of the project was conducted jointly with my teammates, and everyone helped build the project.
