Inspiration

Modern life is spread across calendars, task managers, reminders, notes, and other apps. We realized that the real problem isn't the lack of productivity tools, but the lack of coordination between them. We wanted to build something that understands a person's goals and helps turn intentions into actions.

What it does

LifeOS is an AI-powered personal operating system that brings tasks, schedules, reminders, and daily workflows together. Instead of manually managing multiple apps, users can simply describe what they want. The AI understands the request, decides what actions are needed, and executes them through connected tools.

How we built it

We built LifeOS as an agentic web application with a modern frontend, backend services, database, and AI agent layer. The agent can use tools to interact with different parts of the system. We designed the architecture around MCP so capabilities can be exposed through standardized tools and potentially connected to AI assistants such as Alexa+.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was making the AI reliably understand natural-language requests and convert them into the correct actions. We also had to design clear tool boundaries, handle errors, maintain context, and ensure that actions were predictable instead of simply generating text.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of building a working agentic prototype where natural-language commands can trigger real actions. Rather than creating another chatbot, we focused on demonstrating how an AI agent can understand intent, select the right tools, and complete tasks.

What we learned

We learned that building an agent is much more than connecting an LLM to a chatbot. Reliable tool calling, structured inputs and outputs, context management, error handling, and a clear system architecture are equally important. We also gained practical experience with MCP and agentic workflows.

What's next for LifeOS

We want LifeOS to evolve into a truly proactive personal operating system. Future versions could integrate calendars, email, smart-home devices, health and productivity services, and more MCP-compatible tools. Our goal is to make LifeOS an intelligent layer that connects the services people already use and helps them get things done.
