Inspiration

We noticed how easy it is to fall into the same routine every week, and how hard it can be to find new things to do. Even when we want to try something new, finding an activity, making a plan, and following through can take enough effort that we end up doing nothing.

We wanted to build something that closes that gap and gives people a reason to actually get out and do something.

What it does

LifeMaxxing gives users one personalized activity to try each week based on their interests, dislikes, budget, distance, and solo/group preferences.

Instead of overwhelming users with endless options, it finds something that fits them, helps them commit to it, and lets them share the experience afterward.

How we built it

We built LifeMaxxing with React Native, Expo, and TypeScript, using Supabase for authentication, data, and media storage.

Gemini analyzes user preferences and available events to select a personalized weekly activity and explain why it was chosen. We also explored using AI for real-time event discovery and automated booking.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge we ran into was exploring whether Gemini could book events for the user. We explored other APIs and tools, but ultimately it was out of scope.

We were also surprised by how difficult designing is. Colours are not as simple as they seem.

We're proud of

Our app, our communications skills, and us :)

What we learned

We learned about React Native and Expo, and we learned the importance of planning before developing.

What's next for LifeMaxxing

Next, we aim to help users #LifeMax more easily by auto-booking activities for them through the application.
