Inspiration - We want to reduce the risk of human trafficking because everyone's life matters!
What it does - The app enables users to input their data, once they hit submit, the app will send that data to a database called Reduce Human Trafficking (RHT) that only federal agencies and law enforcement can access. A button called "HELP" can also be used by users if they are in an emergency. The "Help" button will send an alert to law enforcement right away to take action.
How we built it - We used the Android Studio Software to design the app and Java/XML to create the code.
Challenges we ran into - It was our first time using Android Studio so we had to first watch several videos to learn how to use the software. We had trouble figuring out how to change the icon of the app. Also, at first, we didn't know how to import a class in the the Java code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of - We are very impressed with our work since it is our first time utilizing Android Studio. We were very happy that our code executes into an app that is working correctly. We are amazed by our hard work and results and know that we are capable of a lot more.
What we learned - We learned how to program languages such as XML and Java since it was our first time using these languages. We learned that we are determined and confident in what we do.
What's next for LifeMatters - We would like to continue our project to publish the app that can be used by the public.
