Inspiration

LifeLink was inspired by witnessing how emergency patients often lose their lives not due to a lack of donors, but because hospitals struggle to reach compatible donors quickly and reliably. This highlighted the need for a fast, secure, and verified matching system that eliminates delays during critical moments.

What it does

LifeLink instantly connects patients, donors, and hospitals using AI-powered matching based on blood type compatibility, real-time location, urgency level, and donor availability. It provides biometric login, government ID verification, secure messaging, privacy-first data handling, and a one-tap SOS alert system that notifies nearby compatible donors within seconds.

How we built it

We built LifeLink using Base 44, integrating multi-role authentication, biometric verification, GPS-based proximity detection, and an AI matching engine. We added features like end-to-end encryption, zero-trust security, blockchain-backed donor authenticity, real-time emergency alerts, and a clean, accessible UI designed for mobile-first use.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenges included balancing strict medical-grade security with ease of use, ensuring unbiased AI matching, handling accurate location tracking without exposing sensitive data, and optimizing emergency alert speed. We also had to streamline verification steps to avoid slowing down user onboarding.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating a life-saving platform that drastically reduces donor–recipient matching time while maintaining high trust and security. Building a verified donor community, ensuring privacy protection, and developing a reliable emergency alert system were major achievements.

What we learned

We learned how essential transparency, fairness, and real-time optimization are when designing healthcare technology. We also gained experience in secure architecture, ethical AI design, identity verification systems, and building user-friendly interfaces for high-stress scenarios.

What's next for Lifelink

Next, we plan to expand LifeLink to support organ donation networks, onboard hospitals across regions, integrate multilingual support, implement AI-driven predictive donor availability, and grow a nationwide community of verified donors to ensure no life is lost due to preventable delays.
